The management of the Centre for Health System Strengthening; a local Non-Governmental Organisation, is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Biomedical Scientist to support capacity building at one of the Public Health Laboratories in Ghana.
To assist with the microbiology department with routine microbiological procedures and support implementation of standard operating procedures related to public health priority pathogens
Activities include but not limited to:
Implementation of SOPs related to microbiology.
Maintaining proper records of microbiological activities at all times
Participate in all routine microbiological procedures
Be willing to undergo training in advanced microbiological techniques
Support in-house refresher training for staff of the PHL
Assist the PHL staff to properly link up with the Disease Surveillance Officers (DSO’s) specifically in areas of logistics requirements, taking inventory of laboratory supplies and evaluating sample quality.
Perform and assist with quality assurance activities as needed
Prepare and submit monthly reports of all activities and work plans in a timely manner.
The Post holder should have the following: (E = Essential; D = Desirable)
A degree in Medical Laboratory Science at a recognised institution (E)
MSc or MPhil in Clinical Microbiology from a recognised institution (D)
Licensed by the Allied Health Professions Council (E)
Experience of working in the microbiology laboratory for at least 2 years (E)
Ability to analyse data using basic microsoft excel (E)
Ability to write monthly report on activities (E)
Ability to work independently (E)
Very good organisational skills (E)
Must be a team player and have good interpersonal working relationship (D)
DURATION OF CONTRACT
The contract shall be for 7 months but this could be renewed based on the availability of funding
