Dr. Aliyu Mohammed

Dr. Aliyu Mohammed is an Affiliate Scientist and Lecturer with the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. He has a broad background in public health and specializes in Management Information System (MIS), Biostatistics, Monitoring and Evaluation of eHealth applications, and Epidemiologic Surveillance.

Dr. Mohammed’s research interests are centred on the field of infectious disease surveillance, using both MIS and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. His research focuses on monitoring and evaluating health technology interventions to identify and address health inequities among vulnerable and underserved populations, including children and people with certain medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, Tuberculosis, and HIV. He also has a keen interest in using geo-spatial analysis to study the spatial distribution and patterns of diseases and identify potential risk factors, in order to inform health policy and improve the targeting and effectiveness of health interventions.

Currently, Dr. Mohammed is working on projects that aim to assess the structural, economic, and socio-cultural barriers that inhibit people affected by Tuberculosis and HIV from accessing quality treatment and prevention services. His work is aimed at identifying and addressing health disparities among these populations, and ultimately improving their access to healthcare. With his expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and GIS, Dr. Mohammed is well-equipped to make significant contributions to the field of public health and improve the health outcomes for vulnerable populations in Ghana and beyond.Top of Form

Dr Aliyu is currently working with CfHSS to evaluate sample referral system using qualitative and quantitative methods.
