The Centre for Health Systems Strengthening (CfHSS) was honored to be invited to the Global Health Security (GHS) Programme Kickoff Meeting, convened by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Accra on the 8th December 2025. The meeting gathered CDC-funded partner organizations, government representatives, and technical experts including the Ghana Health Service to discuss strategies for advancing health security in Ghana.
CfHSS represented by its Executive Director, Dr Michael Owusu, presented a comprehensive overview of the organization’s key achievements over the past five years. The presentation highlighted how CfHSS has contributed to strengthening health systems, improving public health outcomes, and supporting disease surveillance initiatives across Ghana. The Executive Director also shared insights into current programmes, demonstrating the organization’s ongoing commitment to addressing emerging health challenges.
The kickoff meeting offered an important platform for knowledge sharing, peer learning, and collaboration. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on ways to enhance health system performance, integrate innovative approaches, and coordinate efforts to respond effectively to public health threats. CfHSS actively contributed to these discussions, bringing practical lessons from past interventions and exploring opportunities for future partnerships.
The meeting reinforced the importance of collaborations and collective action in strengthening Ghana’s health systems.
