The 11th Edition of the International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases (ICEID) has come to a successful end. The programme took place at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta hotel in Atlanta, GA, between August 7-10, 2022. This conference was organized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in collaboration with the Task Force for Global Health, and with scientific input from more than 30 national and global partners. Held every 2–3 years, the conference brings together more than 1500 public health professionals from around the world to encourage the exchange of the latest information on issues affecting the emergence, spread and control of infectious disease. The programme comprised plenary and panel sessions with invited speakers, oral abstract and poster presentations, and multiple scientific and public health exhibitors—all focusing on emerging and re-emerging infections.

Two scientific abstracts from CfHSS were accepted for presentations at ICEID 2022. The presentations were made by Dr. Michael Owusu and Dr. Godfred Acheampong. Titles of presentations are as follows:

  1. Enhanced laboratory capacity for molecular detection of respiratory pathogens and other infectious diseases in Public Health Laboratories in Ghana
  2. COVID-19 vaccine acceptability assessment in Ghana

CfHSS will continue to work with CDC, Ghana Health Service and other relevant partners to enhance Global Health Security and offer the needed support to strengthen surveillance and control emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in the country.
