Princess Ruhama Acheampong (PhD) is an International Scholar and Lecturer at the School of Public Health of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. Princess has a wealth of experience in program coordination and project implementation.
As a researcher, Princess has worked extensively in the areas of maternal and child health, mHealth, malaria, epidemiology, public health nutrition, primary health care, health promotion, health literacy and gender. Princess has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research. For her PhD, she used a mobile phone-based nutrition education to improve the level of knowledge of caregivers in child nutrition and the nutritional status of children under-5 in rural Ashanti. Princess is currently using an implementation science approach in urban slums to improve child health outcomes. She is also involved in a study that seeks to improve resuscitation education and acute care of neonates for health care providers using a virtual tele-simulation training.
Princess’ research interests lie in collaborative research interventions that seek to improve universal healthcare coverage. Her exceptional skills in international collaborations her earned her roles such as lead for exchange programs and Intenational Liaison Officer for the Mastercard Africa Higher Education Health Collaborative. Princess is extremely passionate about mentoring young women from disadvantaged populations, and serves as a mentor to several young girls within the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. She is an author and proficient in English and French languages.
