As part of its strategic stakeholder engagements in July 2025, the Centre for Health System Strengthening (CfHSS) visited the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (NPHRL) to reaffirm its technical partnership and chart a path for future collaboration. The CfHSS team was received by Mr. Richard Kutame and Ms. Loretta on behalf of the Laboratory Head, Dr. Gifty Boateng.
The engagement focused on CfHSS’ ongoing support to the NPHRL, with discussions highlighting several critical areas of collaboration:
Additional discussions focused on the need to assess and prioritize replacement of outdated or damaged equipment, including reports of structural damage at the Tamale Public Health Laboratory. The NPHRL team also emphasized the need for targeted training in diarrhoeal pathogen detection.
CfHSS and the NPHRL reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening national laboratory systems through innovation, workforce development, and sustainable infrastructure investments.
